Over 20 years ago, Peter Gibbens, began to learn the historic art of Falconry which has been practised for thousands of years. Learning this art has provided many opportunities and experiences for Peter, which has in turn led to him starting Sky Raiders.
Since starting to learn Falconry, Peter has not only worked with a large selection of different raptor species, but he has also built up a team of specialists (both human and bird) with the same experience and knowledge, which now forms Team Sky Raiders.
The team has been privileged to watch wild raptors hunting their quarry, as well as training captive birds in the art of Falconry. Being so close to the birds of prey for so long, they have built up a unique knowledge of which raptor is best suited to efficiently hunt specific quarry and have even managed to experience first-hand, what quarry could outmanoeuvre their predators.
Almost 7 years ago, Peter and his team realised that their experience has equipped them with a unique set of skills, when it came to matching the right predator for the prey being hunted. Over time they realised that when you regularly flew a raptor at a particular site, the quarry would move to an alternative site.
The last 6 years has seen the team using the experience and understanding they have learnt, to develop their own unique way of managing pests with birds of prey and other natural methods.
Over the years it has become clear to Peter and his team that “Mother Nature always has the answer” and when you match the correct scare tactics, predator and prey you can remove pests from almost anywhere.
